My favorite materials include natural stone before processing, tumbling, or altering. I like rough stone as it comes out of the ground, as in mine run. Particular favorites are chalcedony, chrysoprase, amber, amazonite, beryl, obsidian, onyx, freshwater pearls, and turquoise. Sterling and fine silver are beautiful to work with.
I am self taught in all aspects and techniques involved with my jewelry making. Let me tell you - this business can be very expensive to begin because of all the mistakes I've made! Once you've ruined a piece of gold or silver - that's it! Same holds true for gemstones - I've cracked, scratched and otherwise bruised or broken gems. After trial and error and lots of time and effort, I finally have the courage to display my work and even to place a price on each piece.
Expression through the art of jewelry making is satisfying and comforting to me. When I am in my studio creating, I am safe.
Thank you for taking time to view my work.
